Can't Even See Me

Poem Commentary

Another personal one . . . That's all I can really do these days.

Can't Even See Me

We're back to the way everything was,
Across the room he ignores everyone,
Back to being invisible to him,
Even after all that happened,
I'm forever invisible to everyone,
Everyone just sees right through me.

It's back to the way we were,
Avoiding each others glances,
Talking in small little bursts,
No matter how much everything hurts,
'Cause you don't know me like they know me,
You hardly know me at all.
All you know is that I like you,
Even that, you're unsure.
You don't take the time to get to know me,
Because you can't even see me.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
