Young and Free
It was those times when I was a child
That I spent dancing in the rain
Those years were fun and oh so wild
Long before I ever, met pain.
It was dashing in between the drops
And splashing through the puddles
It was ice cold tea and flip-flops
When I was still young enough for cuddles.
Summer nights and fire flies
Camping out beneath the stars
Hot fudge sundaes and French fries
Happy times and fast sports cars
I was young and wild and free
In a world that wasn’t ready for me
Life was love and full of laughter
Dreaming of my happy ever after
In a world that wasn’t…ready for me
Then I grew up and I turned old
Forgot what fun it was to dance
The path to love, yeah, it grew cold
And everything I did was just by chance
Now it’s hard work and being tired
Not enough hours in the day
My little girl, yeah, she stays wired
But mommy doesn’t have any time to play
Cause I’ve got bills and I’ve got rent
And zero dollars in the bank
The money’s scarce, yeah, it gets spent
On groceries and the gas tank
Oh I wish I were young and free
In the world as it use to be
Full of love and full of laughter
Yeah, I still dream of happy ever after
I still dream of the world as it use to be
