Words Written In The Sunset

  • My writings are far and fewer between these days. At least I've started working on refining what I post.

Words Written In The Sunset

When I think of her

There's a perfect rhythm in my heart

I can hear a soft sweet melody

And it makes my speech an art

She jests, I jest

And we speak in subtle vagueties

And she makes my words flow like a wine

On all sunsets such as these

And best when written; I cannot speak

She tells me I've such a way with words

And so simply do her own inspire

Though best I'm never heard

So write in rhythm as my heart beats faster

All so beautiful a muse might read

I hope she feels as she makes me

On all sunsets such as these

Thanks, I'm really appreciative that you took the time to read my poem, doubly so that you enjoyed it.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
