    • My writings are far and fewer between these days. At least I've started working on refining what I post.

    Dragging on Death

    Questioning the reasons left
That will seek to put me to death
I take a drag of poison smoke
and fill my lungs until I choke

This habit I have a fool proof plan
I wanted death at my own hand
    So I sought a way I couldn't stop
And would simply wait upon the clock

A pack a day a few packs more
Tobaccos the door that I explored
Now I rot my lungs away
With every drag I puff today

    And quiting's a battle I fear I'll lose
Because life or death is what I choose
A fool proof choice of death indeed
Now I want to live and won't succeed

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
