Within

Deep pain resonates through her soul

Black with smut and starting to degrade

She lacks the will to stand on her own

To break free from his iniquity

She follows him mindlessly

Dieing more and more each day

Waiting for the scrapes of love

He feeds her sparingly

Giving some but not enough

To fill her

She begs for more,

Pleading for what will never satisfy her.

It is emptiness,

It is pain,

And yet, she stays.

He feeds her the darkness

That grows within himself

Bastardizing what was once so pure,

So white, so beautiful.

And she laps it up

Like a thirsty dog.

An addict

Offered her own vice.

Who can make her see?

Does she choose to be blind?

Yes, yes,

It is easier that way.

Why run and loose the “definite”

Looking for the “maybe possible”

To be alone would be too much

She is weak

She is needy.

Oh, if only I could open her eyes

If only I could help break her free

But I am trapped within her

Covered by his smut.

Maybe I'm too cynicle in my old age, but it seems to me your protagonist? is exhibiting more than a little masochism, here. Powerfully composed exposition, though.

Sad poem really, that he doesn't care about his treasure. I'd say leave, but I understand all the other difficulties with it. Maybe, give him six more months - while you secretly research and prepare to leave. Don't stay in that situation Dee, you deserve far far better than that idiotic and heartless 'individual'. My two cents. God bless!!

yes she need to be free and independant and wait on that perfect love break those chains good poem

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
