Life as it is
Gritty and painful,
Full of lies and deceit,
Bursting with hatred,
Dripping with greed.
Wanting more than they need.
Taking from others,
Never satisfied,
Always hungry for more.
Vain and undeserving
Like spoiled children they fight.
Never caring who is hurt
Only striking in spite.
I use to believe in good,
In heroes and love,
I had faith in mankind,
And the trueness of friends.
Oh what a fool was I,
Naive and stupid,
Trusting in the goodness
Of that we call mankind.
Our feelings are nothing,
Fodder for the cannons,
they see our kindness
as a chink in our armor.
I long for the day
When this world falls
And all that is left
Is the destruction they caused.
I hope they finally look up,
From their self absorbed existence,
See what once was,
And what will never be again.
The loss of hope,
The broken dreams,
I hope they see it all,
And weep.
