What must I do

Poem Commentary

The record of Paul and Silas is very inspirational to those who believe Gods word. It shows that no matter what they went through, they still gave praise to God.

What must I do

What must I do

An earthquake happened a long time ago

So spectacular so precise, that not a soul did go

For bands were loosed, and doors burst open

That when the guard awoke, he wanted to do himself in

But a voice cried out from within the prison halls

Saying” do thyself no harm” for we are all here within the walls

The jailor called for a light and sprang in to see

For all were there just as he spoke, his heart was set free

For had one escaped that was left to his care

His life would have been required, a knife cut just below his hair

But his life was spared because of these men

No one walked out which could have easily been done

The man walked up to these men and asked a simple question

He fell to his knees and spoke out this declaration

“What must I do to be saved” were the words he spoke

A simple question, but the answer gives you hope

These men spoke and said” Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved

Words that were spoken to him set his heart ablaze

For these words also included his whole family, yes his closest kin

For all was taken care of, washed away all of their past sins

Paul and Silas were the men in those walls

A prison to be exact, in the deepest part of those halls

But the man took them and washed there stripes

They spoke Gods word to them and relieved his gripes

The man and his family fed them and fellowshipped together

Paul and Silas showed them a love like no other

They were let go and went and besought the brethren

Made sure that all was good with the believers and departed again

The end of this is as simple as 1 2 3

All you need to do is ask and the answer is there for all to see

Confess Him as Lord; believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead

This sanctifies you, sets you apart from those who are dead, yes you are now saved

No wrath to come and no more fear of death to hold you in

All justified now, yes no consequences for your past sin

Seated in the heavenlies where you are now a citizen

God is your Father, Jesus Christ your brother; we are all now kin

Romans 10:9 and 10 is where God put the promise

Easy for all to see and claim, so how could we miss

But there are those who deny and folly the truth

But as you have done this, and have manifested proof

For there folly and lies are nothing but a spoof

We know “He is Risen” and at God’s right hand

We walk with power yes in the palm of Gods hand

So never be ashamed to speak to those who ask this phrase

“What must I do to be saved?”

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.
