He took my place
He took my place
Well he saved me from that entire wrath to come
Because of all of the work that he had done
He took my place upon the tree
He did this all for you and for me
There was no wrong found in any part of him
But because of what he did, he carried away my sin
He knew from God’s Word, the calling he had
Because of this, sometimes I’m very sad
My iniquity was laid upon him along with my pains
He laid down his life to give us great gains
But I know that because of all he had done
He made it available for me to be one of God’s sons
Innocent blood he had, but sin he became for me
Why anyone would do this, do this for me?
It took a very high price tag to bring us this grace
It is finished were his words, he died there in my place
I can’t say enough in words to fill this space
About a man who saved me and gave me grace
He took all that I had done wrong and took it upon himself
The only begotten Son of God, he bought me off the shelf He really did take my place.
