The Hunt for Delectable Expression
I search for words like I do for food
Each room each shelf each drawer
I reject the things that aren't good
But then when my supplies is short
I return to sift the rejects again
I settle for the bagel that's not a baguette
Monterey Jack will have to do
I settle for the juice that's not fresh fruit
Pudding instead of ice cream? Ew!
I just can't stand the bad combination
So I pause after the preparation
I put down my pen. I'm off to the store
Where the options given are so much more
The thesaurus displays from plenty to choose
But the word I like is too long to use
But I like it too much to let it loose
So goodbye spare words or hello new line!
A little bit longer is still fine
I oppose disposing of left-overs
Maybe not now but I'll eat them later
I'll exercise to make room in my gut
I'll expand the story if I must
Every line I spent time on to construct
Must absolutely be wisely stuffed
Tweak the theme and revise the title
My heart and stomach are never idle
Somewhere somewhere I'll make them all fit!
And be left feeling this was so worth it.
