My Heart's Pain
I fear I scare my friend,
That my sadness makes her sway.
Who would miss a somber lump
That fails to change from yesterday?
One who's good at crying
And lives a lie to console herself
One who hates to try, is but
A child that withstands pain
One no good for anything
Than to always apologize.
Mistakes flow from her tongue
More often than her lies.
My friend is a twinkling star,
A beacon of hope and light.
I weigh her with my anguish.
My gloom will cause her flight.
My dull eyes push her back..
My words turn off her joy.
I can almost feel her drifting.
Moving farther from my soul.
I want her near me now,
To tell me it's not true,
To say I'm stuck and blind,
To explain I always knew.
I want to know she'll always
Reside within my life.
I want to know she'll always
Need me in her life.
