    The Artist

    Draws upon life and dreams

    Extracting

    then abstracting

    Painting scenes

that by the eye were unseen

    I am lost

    wandering amongst the

    colors and hues

    Peering deeply

    How deeply?

    Too deeply!

Following the trail of brush strokes

    to the border where reason

    merges with passion

    Before me flows

a lush oil and Tempera river

    I accept the invitation

    and float lazily, happily

    under Japanese letters

    and past an Island

where a goat driving a bus

    waves to me

I shrug, laugh and wave back

    I find myself

    in sensuous valleys

    where lavender springs gush

    and the Sun sits down

for a cup of green chai

with an old man and his rooster

I stand in a grove of bamboo

    and listen to them sing

    of lost love

    of passion shared

    of surrender

    and begin to cry

Wow! I mean you are the antman! Excellent work. Your poetry is always a treat to read. I really like the way you painted this story with a tinge of celtic melancholia at the end. Thanks!

Thank you kindly. This was inspired by the paintins of an artist I met last year in Cologne, Germany. I ended up buying one of her paintings entitled 'Surrender' which is a source of continued inspiration.

Saw a comment of yours to another poet and knew you understood what poetry is all about. Had to read one of yours and wasn't disappointed.

Rielle, thank you for taking the time to read and comment. I look forward to returning the favor.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
