    Poem Commentary

My son Aaron has been involved in Gospel rap for a number of years and I decided to write him a rap, just to show that I can, but also because I am a proud daddy

    Aaron

I have a son that is a blessing

    Who has a righteous callin’

To help direct the lost sheep

And those whose faith has fallin’

    But its appallin’

    to him

When he sees the awful price
paid by those who have decided

To turn their back on Christ

    Sacrificing

    their life

For a few dollars they make

The choice to reject the one

Who was sacrificed upon the stake

    Mistakin’,

    they are breakin’

The very heart of the one

Who loved the World so much

That he gave his only son

    It was done,

    don’t they see

That its because of His love

Every breath they take for granted

    Was granted by Him above

    It is love,

    like the dove

When it returned with a twig

    Offered hope that for Jah

No problem is ever too big

    So this soldier,

    the one I told ya

Who has a love for the Word

Is my son and a blessing

Just makin’ sure that you heard

    What I’m sayin’,

    is I’m prayin’,

    that he’s stayin strong

    and obeyin’,

    Displayin’

    faith everyday in God,

    not delayin’

    He weighs in

    as a seeker of Truth

    Spittin’ fast as Superman

    Out of a telephone booth

    Crackin a tooth

    with his rhymes

They have the power of steel

And when they fall upon deaf ears

They have the power to heal

    Can you feel

    the love and pride

That I have for my son?

    If you can’t, just relax

Cause you will when I’m done

    Cause I’ve spun

    this little rap

And like a spider I weave

    My words into a web

To catch all those who don’t believe

    Those who grieve

    about their life

Cause like sheep they’re truly lost

    Faithlessness has been the price

And their souls might pay the cost

    They’ve been tossed

    about by Satan

Til they have nothing to give

In mental darkness they can’t see

The word of God can help them live

    Decisive

    is this young soldier

The one I told ya about

    Who has a righteous calling

The Lord’s praise he’s spittin out

    With a shout

    and a blast

    As strong as Gideon’s horn

His words are breakin down walls

For this he has been born…

    I’m done

Beautiful. It makes a proud PAPA think of the ones he is proud of.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
