    Passion’s Gate

Was it your lovely siren’s voice
that has finally led me here?
Or could it be it was the fickle hand of Fate?
Whether it is chance or choice
what has now become quite clear
I am standing right in front of Passion’s gate

    I have traveled many roads
    Many lives I’ve also lived
But you are something I did not anticipate
Out of my fantasies you strode
and life to my dreams you give
To stand before me here at Passion’s open gate

A sylph-like figure in my mind
You’ve lit a fire in my heart
Until my soul is captured in a frenzied state
My search is over and I find
That I long for love to start
And follow you under the arch of Passion’s gate

    You are sensuous perfection
    irresistibly I am drawn
toward you with longing lust to satiate
    Desire in my eye’s reflection
is heightened by the coming dawn
Trembling we walk through Passion’s open gate

    This subtle craving begs release
For inside us dwells a flame
Only true love can hope to ever liberate
    Hearts unreined asks no surcease
    Forever wild and never tamed
Love is finally set free in Passion’s gate

Anthony, this is really great!!! I love the imagery of 'Passion's Gate', and two lovers walking hand in hand under it's arch. I also love the use of the inner flame that threatens to burn us up in passion without true love's liberation. Great Poem. Thanks for sharing. 10 from me.
