The Conveyor Belt of Love

Poem Commentary

My idea of lyrics for a Country song. Now all I need is some music...

The Conveyor Belt of Love

I used to be a young man, as happy as can be

I had me a real fine gal, prettiest girl in Tennessee

But my sweetheart hamstrung me, I swear to God above

She broke my heart and put it on the Conveyor Belt of Love

Chorus:

Conveyor Belt of Love, Conveyor Belt of Love

She stomped my heart and put it on the Conveyor Belt of Love

I thought I made her happy, I thought I did it well

I worked all day from dawn to dusk, for my sweet southern bell

I would’ve done most anything for my little turtledove

But she broke my heart and put it on the Conveyor Belt of Love

Chorus:

Conveyor Belt of Love, Conveyor Belt of Love

She backed over my heart and put it on the Conveyor Belt of Love

Well my friends I’m glad to say my story don’t end here

‘Cause after my heart was emptied liked a can of old, stale beer

The Conveyor Belt of Love it took my heart out for a spin

Then dropped it at the end of the line in the Recycle Bin

So now that’s all I have to say, I hope you’ve listened well

Don’t be fooled by the pretty smile of your little southern bell

She can be nasty as a rattlesnake, when it comes push to shove

She’ll rip out your heart and put it on…the Conveyor Belt of Love

Chorus:

Conveyor Belt of Love, Conveyor Belt of Love

She took a pitchfork and she stuck my heart….

on the Conveyor Belt of Love

Really would like to hear the tune you put to this antman! Totally hilarious! Reminded me so much of the folk and appalachian songs i've heard. You've made a classic. Excellent work! Thanks!

OMG how clever. I love these lyrics and how you let us know what a witch she is in a playful tune. Great work! Ginga

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
