    Take care of your family

20 years old is where I'm
    going to start my story
    smoking good green
    me and my brother Corey

    we was livin' good
    least that’s what we thankin'
    spent all day chasin' hoes
    and heavy drinkin’

    I guess I didn’t notice
    That my brother started tweekin’
    Taking trips to Independence
    Each and every other weekend

    He start getting skinny
    And he wasn’t that old
People start sayin' that wasn’t weed
    In that bowl

    Man but anyway
    I ain’t thinking bout that
    Until I wore his coat
    And found a cocaine sack

    Man what to do
He sold his phone and his beeper
    That’s a grown man
plus am I my brother’s keeper?

So I just let it ride
Went on and kept my mouth shut
    10 years later
he’s still caught up in a rut

    see I was too busy
    drankin', smoking, livin' lavvy
    the lesson for today
I shoulda took care of my family

How much we recognize when we get a hold of our lives. We are our brother's keepers but we can't do much keeping if we're acting the fool along with them, Believe me I know. Looks like we've both evolved. I pray that your brother is ok but if he's not you'll do what's needed in the time the Lord alots. Notice i didn't say in your own time, You are a very good poet. Your rhyming is top notch, your rhythm is good and you tell a story with it's moral in one consistent read. excellent.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
