A 2nd Chance

A 2nd Chance

As a young man
I often made
decisions in haste

Broke the law on occasion
most of my time I wasted

Drank things that were wrong
and smoked things even worse

and every other word
out my my mouth was a curse

But I have aged quite a bit
and looked back on my days

and I know for sure now
that I have changed in my ways

I have given up liquor
and now do not smoke

and the fires from my past
are all but a smoke

so I ask of you now
do not judge me from then

I am a better man because
of the places I've been

This world is song
and I would like the last dance

can a man who was once bad
please get a 2nd chance.

This would have to be my favorite of yours!! and the fires from my past are all but a smoke.............I am a better man because of the places I've been............can a man who was once bad please get a 2nd chance. just wanted to say those three lines hit me keep written

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
