    • IF YOU DON'T HAVE A PRAYER NOT EVEN HELL WILL LET YOU IN

    SUPERFEAR

i've spent my life fighting bad guys
bad guys spent their lives fighting me
i came to earth from a far away place
just so you could be free
but i'm feeling old and tired now
my hair is thinning and gray
    i don't think i can muster
one more up, up and away

all of your truth and your justice
has taken the fight out of me
    even with my x-ray vision
    it's getting harder to see
    the final curtain is calling
i'm sad but i have no regrets
and soon like the heroes before me
i'll be riding into the sunset

so somebody rip off my speedos
    they've always been too tight
then pull the "s" off of my chest
take my cape i don't want to fly
tell all my friends that i'm sorry
but their hero's already been spent
i only wish that you could be lois
and i could just be clark kent

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
