    Man in the Moon

The man rising with the night
His face shining red and bright
He towers over the ocean making no sound
While we stay mounted watching from the ground
He peeks over the water leaving no path behind
When he’s fast asleep it’s the sun we’ll find
In the east settles the man in the moon
No one knows but he’s leaving soon
The clouds reveal him as a god of night
Each time different bringing a new sight
    His face not always shown
The man in the moon sits alone
How town being the midnight sky
The stars are all his passers by
Looking down at the ocean he sees another face
Not knowing it’s a mere reflection he leaves without a trace

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
