Letter from The Don

Thank you baby for bringing me back
He tried to shake me matter of fact.
But all it took was you to be
A selfish bitch and now I'm free.
He never will and hold this true,
Believe in love or ever love you.
But I always will, for what is through
I'm back in the bosses seat in control of it all.
His soul tried to fight and sadly it lost.
I sent the goons to take out his emotions.
We had to car bomb his will and drive by his devotion
The hardest one to get was his love for life
But you gave us the key, when you declined to be wife.
We ran in his heart, and tied up his grace, tied up true love,
and burnt down the place.
All the competition taken care of,  my stranglehold complete
Only one is hope and soon he'll be six feet.
I'm the boss now, did all I had to do.
This is my thank you letter, couldn't have done it without you.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
