    Last Stop... Heartbreak Lane

    Last Stop... Heartbreak Lane

Deep in your soul, there’s a train of your heart

First stop is the meeting that sets up the start

You speed along laughing and sharing good times,

This is about the second stop on the line.

It all comes together when you get to stop three,

You realize this person, really makes you happy.

You can’t think without them, your heart wanting more,

Your prayers have been answered here on stop four.

A blessing is here, and you finally realize,

That this wonderful person keeps your soul alive,

You start to believe in all of the jive,

Your life’s getting better, here on stop five.

But then the tracks change, and you start feeling sick

The doubts, and the worries, here on stop six.

It’s all downhill now, what happened to heaven

The reality sets in here on stop seven.

How can we fix it? Or is it too late?

The inevitable end, here on stop eight.

You can’t stop this train, the ride filled with pain,

The breaks are all worn, because of heartache, and rain

Just what was the point, and what did I gain

The last stop on this train, is Heartbreak Lane

    I’m Home Again….

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
