    I knew you'd come...

     

    I knew that someday you'd come. Whenever I watched my father shave. I knew that someday you'd come. Whenever I'd cry, rant or rave.

    I knew that someday you'd come. Whenever I'd have to go to school. I knew that someday you'd come. Whenever I learned a new rule.

    I knew that someday you'd come. Whenever Father would leave for work. I knew that someday you'd come. Whenever Mother would tend to my hurt.

    I knew that someday you'd come. Whenever I saw the birds and bees of spring. But nothing could have prepared me for the joy that you would bring.

    This is a very beautiful poem! I want to echo what Artie said... I like how u showed that everything that was happening to you as you grew up prepared you for the day you too became a parent. That is so touching, so precious... I felt that... if you share it with your daughter, which I'm sure you already have, I know it'll make her feel SO special. Excellent work ;-)

    Great!! I smiled all the way through this. The thing I like most about this, is it's simple, but if you really pay attention, it shows that your entire life has been a lesson of preperation for what's to come.
