08/28/88
Life and Texas Hold 'em are alike in so many ways. Limitted predictablity and fortunes change as often as the days.
Both require sound judgment and a willingness to let go. Leaving us often wondering about things, of which, we may never know. To reveal too much to soon is un-wise and could cause un-due pain and loss. Wearing the truth in your heart and not on your sleeve, is not the same as being false. Knowing these things, I have spent my whole life playing the cards dealt to me.So an 8 and a 2 (off suit) starting hand, is nothing strange to see.
I will play it to the finish and even say "ALL IN". I can be no other way. They can call me foolish, crazy or worst but I don't care what they say.
The flop came King - Ace - 8 oh what am I to do. My mind says fold but my heart says play. This hand somehow reminds me of you.
The river card is an 8 and now I'm glad I played. I only called and didn't raise remembering why I stayed.
Fifth street comes it's an 8 this hand is mine for sure. I hear "all in" and quickly Call like fish going after a lewer.
There were 3 Aces and 2 pair but nothing to beet my fourth 8. Then I thought,' Hold on a second, that reminds me of a date'.
My philosophy about Life and Texas Hold 'em is pretty firmly built. 8-2-8-8-8 and 8/28/88 the two greatest hands ever dealt.
