    Demon's Hymn

    Few lines describe you in the way you are;
Modest, sincere, devoted and so kind
I wish you were someone closer to me
But wishes sometimes fail, though needs go blind
Something within myself is just for you
Something I feel obliged to keep and hide
Days in your life and mine that run and go
Are days we lose and they never return

My hair is graying, yours is graying too
The days and nights left for us are but few
Don't be so pure, purity is a bore
It kills the dream and the "woman" in you
From earth to earth we go, from dust to dust
Thenceforth, no human knows what Fate will do
Let's make the best of life before it runs
Let's run away from boredom and restraint

Poets are demons when they want to be
Poets are saints when they love and adore
Poets are Nature's Freedom on this Earth
Breaking the chains with splendour and uproar
Poets are Wisdom in a crazy World
When others lose their way and see no more
Make me your freedom, demon, and your saint
A chance like this may never come again

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
