Dear Momma
Hi there miss maybe missus.
My name is Jay.
You don't know me at all.
But you will after today.
I know you're scared,
I know you're irate,
I know you're so worried.
And have a lot on your plate.
This isn't your choice
Or maybe it was.
But you feel helpless
And can't reason this cause.
You're hurting and sick
Hopefully this will help.
A wake up call,
or maybe just a yelp.
Go get clean,
I believe in you.
Find a good therapist
I use one too.
What's her favorite color?
Who is his sport team?
Do you want daily updates?
Or just the weekly theme?
You're her momma.
I can't ever replace that.
But maybe we can help each other.
I won't let you fall flat.
I've been a nanny.
I'm already an aunt.
We can't have our own baby.
So helping yours isn't scant.
I'll love him like my own.
I love you too.
You brought him to me.
And a few friends anew.
You can do this.
You can learn and grow.
I want them to love us both.
So much more than you know.
Thank you for accepting,
For dealing with this strife.
It will help you and I,
may even save your child's life.
You're so brave.
Thanks for letting me be
A coparent to your baby
And helping raise your prodigy.
You can do it.
I'll help you stay on track.
I love your little one.
I want you to get him back.
~ an open letter to the birth family.
