Darkness

Darkness

The walls close in
diminishing the sunlight
The brightness of my days
is fading to blackness
I waited for a light from you
durring the darkness
And you never came
With the dark there is
A cool and lonely feeling attached
The nights are a passionless
as the days
I wish to feel the warmth of your touch
to bring back the light
But I am forever
living in the darkness

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
