Awakened by a Scream
I think I heard a scream once,
Shrill in my ears
Vibrating my temples
Like a tribal drum
I looked away
Thinking it might pass
But in a day
It will still last
The call of Death
In my painted eye
Grew steady and harsh
When I sat upright in bed
Counting the numbers on the clock
Which lied and bled
But
That scream was something undeniably funny
For it was fake
Nothing more than my thoughts gone awry
Once again
From fury
The second time tonight
Shrill in my ears
Vibrating my temples
Like a tribal drum
I looked away
Thinking it might pass
But in a day
It will still last
The call of Death
In my painted eye
Grew steady and harsh
When I sat upright in bed
Counting the numbers on the clock
Which lied and bled
But
That scream was something undeniably funny
For it was fake
Nothing more than my thoughts gone awry
Once again
From fury
The second time tonight
