Trail of the Snail
I follow line after line
The sinewy sonorous slime
Of aqueous shell and limey grime
Through the cool rooted plants
Sounding as sugar sifted
Alien creatures that smother ants
A flood of sticky honey encripted
Off they go night and day
Aimless in the emerald grass
Jewels of amber, cornucopian brass
Their shimmering trails of pearly wine
White and bright in the rays of heat
Meandering, begrudged of their daftest feat
Belly-footed Olympiads on a scorching street
Toddling past as ladies large busted
Their round calico houses
Crunching ‘neath morning route buses.
The sinewy sonorous slime
Of aqueous shell and limey grime
Through the cool rooted plants
Sounding as sugar sifted
Alien creatures that smother ants
A flood of sticky honey encripted
Off they go night and day
Aimless in the emerald grass
Jewels of amber, cornucopian brass
Their shimmering trails of pearly wine
White and bright in the rays of heat
Meandering, begrudged of their daftest feat
Belly-footed Olympiads on a scorching street
Toddling past as ladies large busted
Their round calico houses
Crunching ‘neath morning route buses.
