    Moonlight

    Stars that glow like diamonds
    Dot a midnight sky;
    I walk
    and see
    your spirit descending
down a sandy staircase by the sea,
    and I wait patiently
    for you to hold me
    beyond the endless shore
    of your lonely world.

    The pearly doves
Caught so carefully beneath your skin
    Peck a luminous arrow across my chest;
    So silently do they hum
Secretly in the primordial breeze of your soul

    I watched in awe
When not too long ago, on a restless evening
The Moon fell from the sky,

    And became you…
So I turned and kissed your reflection
And melted, succumbing to its sweet confection
For when lips met my flesh did sear
Cooling my life with your presence near
And suddenly, everything seemed so clear

    Hence, more acquainted I became
With the hollow void of precious night
When all of life is loving and right
    So forgiving
    In your whispering, indigo eyes
    So stormy they scream
    In my dreams
    Where love may softly snow
And the chasms of Death shall never show

You wandered away like a lost enigma
    while your weeping washed ashore
Memories of Love battered that always
    bid you to shout
    Nevermore

    I followed
    And collected the tears
    The crystals which Hope permitted
    The absence of romantic fears
From which their lightning finally struck me
Vibrating through my mind after all these years

I swept them into the empty caves within
    My wounded heart
Devoured the miseries from which you
    Bled so heavily at Sundown
When the lightless serenity brought you nothing but a frown

Your crushing tsunami brought me back to
    Reality
During the richest, blackest night when I wrote this verse that seems to travel onward
    Towards Infinity

The tides of ardor came rushing in frothing white
and the waves roared upon the sifting sand.
Your voice was silenced by the misty winds
that blew relentlessly across the desiring place,
Your aching hands, your gentle heart
    Thought couldn’t be replaced

I can imagine your image at night on the water
as I try to touch your angel-dusted face.
With hesitation, the rays blind me
    But I smile
    Just in case

    Do not fear
for my presence will be the paradox:
the lingering Sun which burns so hot in space,
and my passion will last a lot longer
    Heating your coldest, loneliest hour
Smoldering & impassioned eye for eye
The Eve in your forbidden garden,
for with you in clear sight
my heart will never be starved
    And will dare not die
Rather, it will leap through Time unnerved
    Drowning so splendidly in your
    Burning sigh
That so graciously was sent to me
    From Heaven’s cloud so high

Forever, I will be waiting down by the pier
    With frozen hands
And in my ear, the words so beautifully queer
    “You are loved” will appear
As your winds gouge the last remains of sadness
    With its howling spear

wouldn't it be great if we as poets could talk like this all the time without non-poets thinking we are crazy, lol. you, probably could talk like this all the time because you are , or seem to be, more of a stream of conscieness (sp) poet. when i attempt to talk like this, or in my own poetic tongue and ability, my girlfriend says, "you sound like a hallmark card". she means this lovingly but i cringe at those words. thank you for letting us read another sound and beautiful poem.

I read your poem and was dazzled with your imagery and use of language. I felt drawn into the scene and could imagine the lonely stretch of beach and your tense emotions. I wondered however, it the poem was just a little bit too long. Perhaps you might think about making two poems of this one. Or maybe using chapter heads. Over all, the piece was epic and dramatic without being overly sentimental.

Thank you for your comment. My poetry is usually romantic with a dash of dark intensity. I enjoy writing lengthy pieces when I am feeling overwhelmed with by tides of melodramatic fancy. My writing speaks what is on my mind, and I would not dare to alter any of it, as this form of artistry flows from me without hesitation. I never make rough drafts. I simply type and watch my creations form.

That was sooo deep and worth readung more than once.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
