You Make Me Happy

You Make Me Happy

It started out with clouds and rain
Like usual, never sunshine.
And I couldn’t wait to see your face
And see the storm come to an end.
What story would you tell me, friend?
What useless fact would I have to hear?
You can rack my brain for days if it means
I get to hear you speak.
Everyday you try to ease my worries
And my suffering.
Time and time again you do this,
But only just to let me down.

I’m very relieved you’re there for me,
And I don’t have to thank you twice.
You’re bringing out the best in me,
Like a poor man in a diamond mine.
I do confess that I crave your laugh,
And all you do that eases me.
But I hate that you make me happy.
Time and time again you do this,
But only just to let me down.
