Why must one yearn with all one's soul
Why must one yearn with all one’s soul?
O Night wrapped around me, leave me in my morning.
I’m awake in my own words
rewriting the force of the new day
with words that never perish,
though the sun is always rising on the same dream,
where I walk away from the chaos and begin to run;
feet pounding out the memory of tears,
licking water from swollen lips that kissed
this carefully ordered chaos till I tasted the salt of eternity.
Gazing at the infinite sky that stretches
along the oblong to forever eternal,
I pull back the edge of infinity,
falling backward in time to the rains
of an unforgettable spring,
holding myself within its timeless hurt.
