For The Children's Tears
For The Children's Tears
In a field where roses fade
in the solitary twilight hour.
I look heavenward toward You and cry.
Will Time endure this age’s frozen grasp,
where children are taught to feed on disparity,
and a mockery do their tears command?
O Lord! Kiss away the anguish from their eyes,
for they are overcome with a despair
that transcends all expectancies
with the barren rage of death’s eternal cold.
Open wide the caged door of man’s mind,
so he may see the harm he does our future.
For children learn to hate,
and we are their teachers.
Give us the courage to love.
