Sonnet for Life
Sonnet for Life
I am the breath of dawn, felt in the air,
the spark of love, seen deep within his eyes,
the feel of silk, his fingers in her hair,
the warmth in his touch, as it brings her sighs.
I’m the seed of hope, growing in her womb,
the beat of a heart that will live to die,
the cry of the innocent, from the tomb,
will never know how to learn...how to cry.
I’m the fear, the pain, an unwanted birth,
the tears of joy that she will never share,
the child of love that will leave from this earth,
just torn from her womb. Why couldn’t they care?
I’m the voice of angels, heard above,
who welcome their child, with undying love.
