    What do books think about?

I wrote this as an entry for a contest our local library was having to celebrate Poetry month, so they call it.

    What do books think about?

Growing dusty on a high shelf, left to over look my surroundings.
Though I see you with your high tech gadgets, I’m hoping you will once again explore my bindings. Movies and TV shows can only offer you so much, the places you watch, you can go there with me and touch. You can travel anywhere’s with me, fight against dragons or walk with kings, any place you read about, you can be. Become a super hero or a super star, who you want to be, can be who you are. Let me become your passport and there you can go, talk with people of old or any one else you may know. Solve a mystery or save a damsel in distress, open up my pages and put your imagination to the test. Explore mountains or vast seas, walk through a desert or take a hike through a forest of trees. There are no restrictions, go where ever you please. Fly like a bird, high in the clear blue sky. All things are possible, when your mind you do apply. The tombs of Egypt can be just a page turn away, pick me up and you can walk there, any time of day. No matter where you are, with me I can take you far. No worries about money or travel fees, take trips across the world, its all free with me. I require no batteries or plug ins, no Internet access. Ill never become obsolete, my stories are ageless. Pick me up, give it a spin. A turn of my cover and the adventure can begin. Day or night, your thoughts can take flight. With me, you can travel to any heights. All you have to do is pick me up, go on, give it a try, the world and adventure is nigh. You can learn so much when you pick up a book, all you have to do is open up the pages and give me a look. Wipe off my cover, here we go my friend. On to action, mysteries, or adventure, the fun there is no end. With a good book, you wont be sorry my dear, everything starts with a turn of the page, it all starts here.
