Wear's the Shape? (For my friend Jill)

    Shapewear,
    formerly known as "the girdle"
is the frumpy fat woman's fantasy
of promptly appearing ten pounds thinner.
That is, if the flesh can win the battle
    of pulling it into place.
    The array of flab managemnet
    is quite daunting--
    You can smooth the lumps
    with light control,
lift the sags and shrink the rolls
    with medium control,
    But, for some serious de-jiggling--
    it must be firm control!
    So pull out those controlling
    panties, bodysuits, and waist cinchers
    and squash those rolls flat!
    squish and squash
    shrink and flatten
    lift and smooth
but do not forget to breath,
    breath and do not faint
    and remember to pray,
pray that no one notices the occasional tug
to pull the binding out of painful places.
Painful places?  There will be many,
but the price of the pain is worth every inch
    of the confidence gained.
Thinness will finally be regained!  and
your little black dress will laugh in delight
as it saunters into the night--
    Until, by the light
    of the powder room door
the fantasy is shattered by the mirror--
    shattered, because those bulges,
    so tightly concealed at home,
    have migrated north
    and landed beneath the breasts.

Hi Jaycee, I don't remember? what did I say to inspire you:) ?

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
