    Vampire

I wrapped my arms around you,
    you smelled my neck,
    what were you doing?
    I feel your breath,
    its chilling me,
a deep pain shoots through me,
    your sharp teeth,
    punctured my skin,
    I scream,
I beg you to let go,
    so much pain,
    I couldn't stand it,
but you stop and look at me,
I put my hand on my neck,
    what did you do?
    I screamed,
all you did was hush me,
and tell me the transformation will end soon,
I look at you with wide eyes,
but all I could say was,
    vampire.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
