Unmeant
we sleep alone
our togethers fading like monarchs
in a field of sky and stone
i gather the shrouds and wait
for something new
holding the stillness
that was once you
the shattered clay will never mend
but my broken feet
bear my weight and I pretend
to forgive this abrupt ending
and never blame a soul
and awake in the morning
half of me yearning
to be whole
the sun has set
in our evening sky
we are traveling and unknown
aching back and questing hands
grasping nothing
but empty sheets and shifted sands
