stressful morning
drifting through smog
armored against
any attempt to touch God
the sunlight is trapped
behind the mountains of my mind
the key clicks shut
the door to my crime
ravished to the point
of failure i climb

drenched in corn syrup
battered and dipped
grow like a polyp
slender avenues
hide the skyless views
another successful day
selling rainbows
islands of glass
trapped within
shouting at nothing
wreathed in sin
people are not angels
demons are not men
women are devoted
to men who cannot win
forget about the future
wallow in the past
dreams are dangerous
habits to possess
images in the mirror
are closer
than they
appear
in case
of emergency
break glass
