Tribute to a legend
I pay tribute to a fallen starWho had his dreams fulfilled?
Before he knew what dreams were
I watch him dance, hear him sing
Yet my focus is drawn to his eyes
Where lonely questions are beckoning
That feeling mirrored in child’s eyes
Not fitting in, not understanding why
Begging for answers his soul cries
“You are not alone” stilled my heart
Never singing I nor we within the lines
Of acceptance he would never be part
The King of Pop revered, befriended
One of the loneliest souls I’ve ever seen
Hoping he found peace as life ended
His music changed the world’s beat
His dancing was like nothing ever before
Performing was when he felt complete
I shed tears for a legend so loved, so lost
Wondering for years if he’d ever fit in
Never understanding gains and costs
For the artist who inspired passion
For the inner child who craved acceptance
For the creative genius who defied expectation
For a legend who will never be forgoten
