The Hour

The Hour

So softly the tide echoes my life,

that searches twilight reaches of the past,

secret dreams and ancient seas,

forever drift with my spirit... beyond the horizon.

Hearing your voice in the grey mists,

seeing the haunting reflection of your gaze,

an indistinct image remains...

yet, the feelings are sharp...like brilliant crystal.

Those moments which have crumbled,

and found their death in The Hour's passage,

still plague this place I inhabit...

still shock this frail and injured psyche.

And Time may watch, as my broken heart recovers,

but Fate can never be merciful,

for the injury is past true healing,

as the loss resides forever... inside my soul.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
