The Mountain Cries

Poem Commentary

i wrote this as i drove away from my home in bend oregon. as i drove, the mountain i lived on seemed to know i was leaving. the rain, the coudy whispy wind....

The Mountain Cries

as i leave the place i have come to know so well,
the mountain seems to know i am leaving.
as i drive through the mountain pass,
the clouds seem to form white, whispy arms.
as the clouds cluster and the rain falls,
i realize with a sigh, as the mountain cries.
it cries for me to stay, in the place i have
come to know so well, and i answer with my own
tears. "you shall never be forgotten."

The signs are before us; we only need to take the time to see them. A poet friend// RH Peat

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
