The City
There is pain in the city,
starvation and disease.
The tenements crumble,
yet life goes on.
The wary eyes of people,
watchful in the streets.
Tired of seeing things
which break the heart.
Yet hope remains.
The spirit of humanity
not gone.
We will rise up as a people.
Like one million times before.
For we are made in his image.
And he saw that it was good.
So now endure.
When you feel lost and alone.
Feel the brush of angels wings
upon your souls.
As you kneel down in the mosque,
church or temple.
Or take confession with your priest.
Feel his ancient presence
And rest assured.
He is there.......
