Stride
She sits in solitude,Quiet and depressed.
Counting down the minutes,
Counting down the time.
With every passing car,
Her heart beats faster.
Fearing for her life,
Fearing for her sister.
Headlights dance across the wall,
Dinner isn't ready.
The knife she drags across her arm,
Hopping for compassion,
She will never find.
Blood streams down her arm.
Dripping to the floor,
Staining it with her sins.
He bursts through the door,
Already half-way gone.
Angry things he does say,
Hateful blows to the face.
He points her to his room,
Closing out the world.
Silently she screams in pain,
In her head she hates him.
Taking from her all that she can call her own.
Walking out the door,
Leaving her childhood in his stride.
