    Poem Commentary

This write is not one that portrays any personal experience of mine. It is simply my expression of what I perceive to be the feelings of the thousands of individuals that must face each day alone and friendless..

    Solitude

    A restless night, never ending

    Its darkness clouding my mind

Creating visions of ghosts of the past

All dancing to the tune of the ticking clock

Morning finally comes in the small and dingy room

Faint rays of sunlight seep through tattered blinds

The sparseness of my existence dimly illuminated

My eyes open slowly but refuse to focus

I realize that the world is still there, as before

And I am still trapped, alone in my solitude

I like that "trapped" ...conveys much more than "solitude"...excellent write

Charlie: Your metaphoric use of words here in this one is truly great! An easy 10.

Ah Hampton... this one has left me a little speechless. The despair that has so carefully been woven into the phrasing here, is outstanding. Thank you so much for sharing.

The pleasure is all mine and I thank you.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
