    Poem Commentary

Carrying on the Buda, Texas news tradition started last year.

    July in Buda Texas

Let’s face it cowboys and cowgirls, it’s hot. All the Longhorn’s are camped under the nearest shade tree. Industrial Asphalt, Inc. has shut down because the asphalt won’t stick. The Little Texas Bistro is cooking burgers on the sidewalk out front and the burn ban has been extended by the City until September 11th.

The good news is that the Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer Conservation District has declared the aquifer to be in a “No Drought Status and the IH-35 Main Street construction project has entered the installation of bridge beams phase II raising hopes that Main Street detours will soon be a thing of the past.

Our good friend and fellow poet Richard R Salassi returned to Buda from attending his high school reunion out-of-state… although, unfortunately, his car did not accompany him home.

I regret to announce the passing of poet corey1hillen who has been an inspiration to us all in the past. His poems live on though as rsalassi has stepped forward to carry on his tradition of outspoken comment and provoking controversy where none previously existed.  Our thanks to rsallasi for his unselfish dedication to the spirit of our comrade corey1hillen who is with us no more.

If you are going to be visiting Buda this summer we highly recommend the Jimmy Clay golf course should you happen to be a linkster.

On the July calendar in Buda are the following important events.

07/13 Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting;  07/15 Texas Hill Country Trail Region -July Board Meeting; 07/16 Toons & Tunes Series - Bo Cox with Texas FX; 07/20 City Council Meeting; 07/21 Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting; 07/23 Toons & Tunes Series - Tejano Night; 07/24 Tea Cocktail Party - The Looking Glass.

Talk about excitement. There is no end to the fun and games in Buda. Now on to the really important news.

Over the past month the man that resembles Mark Twain was spotted three times. All three times he was seen bicycling on either Old San Antonio Road or Goforth Road.  The mystery that surrounds this man has captivated the citizens of Buda for years now. Few have spoken to him and even fewer have been able to get clear answers from him concerning his true identity.  Our surveillance will continue and we will report any new findings as they are uncovered. More news from Buda in the upcoming weeks.

Sir Richard is unique as you well know, I am originally from Kansas and I can't seem to escpe my miswestern ways no matter how hard I try.

Yep, I have grown fond of the man who pretends to be Twain and has prove himself quite sane, if only I could say that of myself, lol.

Minus the heat and the wild goings on this reminds me of a small town in MN. Wonderfully so. Drew.

I swear I spotted that very man at Wall mart last Thursday. Yes, he was eating something out of the dumpster behind the store. When he realized he was being watched he sped away on his bicycle...you do realize he has training wheels don't you?

    Sure do. Thanks.

Told in true radio style of news reporting. And hey, it's hot everywhere. You should see the Springs - creating construction on another over pass. But it's dry - no sweat!

The absence of humidity is a blessing. We have been running around 105 almost every day over the past week here in Penryn but no humidity makes it tolerable. WO is you.

You are right on time with this latest edition...I had been missing my updates on the local goings on! Buda is such a busy bustling burb, that Tejano night sounds like an absolute must for anyone who's anyone!! Thanks for sharing the headlines my friend!

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
