Humanities Challenge
As I walk among the aimless crowds
I see empty bodies draped in linen shrouds
Some rushing on the road to nowhere
Others moving as if totally unaware
Life consumes the soul until nothing remains
Suffocating the mind with unyielding chains
The humanness that would save the world
Is lost beneath evil’s cloak unfurled
Can we shed these chains that bind
And throw back the cloak that hinders mankind?
The answer lies deep within each living being
Looking outward without ever seeing
It is within our power to purge evil from our midst
So take up the sword and clinch your fist
Swear to replace relentless need with a giving heart
And love’s undying message you will soon impart.
