Personal Reunion of Regret
"Hang on just a minute!"
I said to my best friend of eleven years.
We walked around the old school building
Where an old dust banner still read:
"Through these halls... walk the finest people
in the world... Our Students and staff."
I could see the tears well up in her eyes.
"Pull it down." she managed to choke up.
The intercom started blaring out these oh so familar words:
"Seniors: turn in your semester exemption forms in the office today."
Unfortunately, it was only a figment of our distraut imagination.
All of a sudden, a tall dark clean white man appeared
And demanded we get out immediately for
The constuction men are destroying this school.
"Sir, you're being rash and very sudden in cholars,
and haply strike at me."
"Then so be it."
He replied cold-heartedly and threw us out by our necks.
We cried in each other's sorrow and went the coffee shop for
another cup of cappuccino and and another lovely old time story.
