    My Universe of Untrustedness

    In the universe
    Of my life and heart
    You are the sunshine
    Of my happiness
    The petals on my
    Budding rose flower
    The raindrops on my
    Clouded nights and days
    To you, I am your
    Raining happiness
    But me, I am your
    Newest adventure
    I love you, that I
    Know is proven true
    But you, do you love
    Me as honest too?
    I hear you do, I
    Believe some of it too
    Prove to me, in
    Honesty, you trust me

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
