    Love is War

A battlefield of broken dreams transparent in its core
    Hypnotically ripping through the seams
Fire by fire, shot by shot
Bleeding from the chambers of the heart
Painfully revealing the never ending plot
Unable to believe this is the easy part
    Paradise now stained with blood
Look at each battle that was never won
Waiting for the shores to flood
Darkness that forever blocks the sun
    Escaping tranquility of night
    Overcoming the great divide
    Excepting its cruel delight
    Even when two hearts collide

Playing my position as you come into view
    Memories calling me back
Knowing no way to talk this through
Closing out distractions to keep me on track
    Trigger in my hand
    Straight line of sight
    Swallowing my worries and doubts
For a moment of silence I might find the easy way out
One step closer... But still too far

Grabbing my hand so strong and true
Instantly healing each and every scar
    And finally saying "I DO"
Love may be war but it is bittersweet
    Right down to the core
A battle that can never be won
Fighting a temptation that the heart has done
Every day getting better even though it's still hard
It's always better to love even when you have to fight
There is no greater gift so hold on with all your might.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
