Poem Commentary

You never know if you will make it to see tomorrow and if you didn't everybody would like to say a last few words.  At the time I worte this I was thinking about something happening to me and what I would say to my kids, and thats how Letter to The First Born came to be.

Letter To The First Born

If I shall ever leave you
Before your time know this
The love I bared for thee was unconditional
Pay no mind to what close ears say about me
For they never knew the true me
Know that I worked toward your future
And walked this earth as a woman
You shall also walk as a man
And always keep the wind behind you
And your feet above the ground
Strive, struggle, survive, dream fantasys
Way beond this reality and apply energy to make it so
Obstacles will come, break through them
Enemies will appear. Peirce them with your holy arrows
Liars will come up to decieve you
Blow them away with your mighty breath
Pain will come to make you suffer
Absent it with your chest strength foward
Tears will form in your eyes, wipe them away with haste
Society will pressure you. Uplift the burden with prayers
Your friends will turn on you
Stay close to the ground and walk lightly
Love will come for you
Stand tall and embrace it like a man
