Poem Commentary

This poem was written when a person I loved left me and i didn't know if she was coming back.

I Am Love

What is there to really say except for the fact that love has died. Cupid has retreated back to the pits of the earth where only darkness can see him. So many have claimed to have loved him and honored his presence. But they denied, used and abused the only thing that made us, us. The only thing that made our hearts smile. The only thing worth dying for. So now we scatter around this dreadful earth, lusting without cause. Take your chances on your own, love your own way. For me, I am a lover so I require the real thing. But if you do so to then borrow cupids wings and fly with me above common ground. For we will fly to the end of the earth and I will forever show you true love. If not, stay here and continue to expect this degrading emotion you call love. And when you finally realize that love is gone come find me at the end of the sunset and there will I love you until the stars fall from the sky. Who am I? I AM LOVE!!

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
